Thursday, June 6, was the 75th anniversary of the landing in Normandy on D-Day.
My cousin, Herb Epstein, who was an intelligence sergeant with the 5th Ranger Battalion, hit the beaches that day. A few weeks prior to the landing, Herb was given the responsibility of modifying a scale model of the invasion area
He didn’t get killed that day and returned to the States.
The next time he was in Normandy was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of D-Day with President Ronald Reagan. In the photo taken he was standing two people over from Reagan.
I am so proud of Herb and all of the veterans who fought in that historic battle. The estimates of the casualties were in the thousands.
It’s because of our veterans who fought in unfortunately too many wars that we are able to live in the greatest country in the world.
May God Bless all of our veterans who fought in our wars, those who didn’t make it home, those who still suffer from these wars and those who were lucky enough to make it home.
