MARLBORO – An application proposing the construction of a church on Union Hill Road is scheduled to be heard by the Marlboro Planning Board on July 17.
The applicant, The Church in Marlboro, is represented by attorney Salvatore Alfieri. The Church in Marlboro is proposing to construct a 7,680-square-foot, split-level church/house of worship with a 240-seat sanctuary area, meeting rooms, an office, restrooms and a lobby on the upper level. The lower level would have a multi-purpose room, meeting rooms, restrooms and a kitchen, according to the application.
The 9.7-acre parcel where the applicant wants to construct the house of worship is at 523 Union Hill Road, opposite the Willow Lane intersection and adjacent to the Asher Holmes Elementary School.
There is a home on the property which would be removed. The remainder of the tract is heavily wooded and has a tributary that leads to Pine Brook, which includes a pond area along the rear of the property.
Parking for 80 vehicles is proposed, with access from a paved driveway leading in from Union Hill Road.
The July 17 Planning Board meeting is open to the public and will be held at Marlboro Town Hall, 1979 Township Drive. Representatives of The Church in Marlboro are expected to describe their plans for the property.
