A resident of Jamesburg has been charged in connection with the death of a man who was struck and killed while driving his motorcycle on Aug. 8.
Peter Prete, 57, of Jamesburg, was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash in the second degree and motor vehicle violations, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Raymond J. Hayducka of the South Brunswick Police Department.
The deceased individual was identified as Cory Holsten, 25, of the Dayton section of South Brunswick. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries he sustained in the crash, according to the statement.
An investigation began after police officers were dispatched to the scene of the crash which occurred in the area of Cranbury Road and Davidson Mill Road in South Brunswick at approximately 8:50 p.m. Aug. 8.
A preliminary investigation has determined Prete was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler when he crashed into the motorcycle being driven by Holsten. Prete reportedly fled the scene, but was later apprehended at his residence, according to the statement.
