The Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education has approved a $72,739 increase in a contract for construction at the district’s two facilities.
On Aug. 6, board members approved the change order in a contract with Sunnyfield Corporation for construction work at the Freehold Learning Center elementary school, Dutch Lane Road, and at the Park Avenue Complex, which houses the Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School.
The $72,739 change order will increase the board’s original $637,000 contract with the company to $709,739.
According to district administrators, the initial contract awarded to Sunnyfield Corporation was for the repair/renovation of duct work at the Freehold Learning Center, the installation of a secondary emergency generator at the Freehold Learning Center, and the construction of a prefabricated maintenance garage at the Park Avenue Complex.
The change order approved by the board will pay Sunnyfield Corporation to convert the art classroom at the Freehold Learning Center into an early childhood classroom. The work is scheduled to be completed before the opening of school.
