Residents of Hillsborough will have a chance to meet local representatives during a picnic at Ann Van Middlesworth Park on Sept. 7 from 2–5 p.m.
Congressman Tom Malinowski (D- Hunterdon, Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union, Warren) is set to be in attendance for a portion of the afternoon to speak to the community and give his take on the current state of affairs in Washington, D.C.
“We’ve been hearing from people all around town who are incredibly concerned with the news we see coming from D.C. every day,” said Hillsborough Democratic Organization Chairman Ronald Yoder in a press release. “We are thrilled that Congressman Malinowski will be joining us in a fun, laid back atmosphere and allowing us the opportunity to speak with him directly.”
New Jersey Assemblymen Andrew Zwicker and Roy Freiman (D- Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset), Somerset County Freeholder candidate Melanie Marano, Hillsborough Township Committeewoman Olivia Holmes and Township Committee candidate Jeffrey Wright will also be in attendance.
“We are just thrilled to host this event and bring together our neighbors with their representatives from every single level of government. It is so vitally important, now more than ever, that we build a community around our values of fairness, equality and decency,” Hillsborough Township Committeewoman Olivia Holmes said in a statement. “What better way to build such a community than meeting with all of your Democratic representatives and like-minded families at a beautiful picnic in the park?”
The picnic will be catered by Elmer’s Catering from South Bound Brook and will include activities, as well.
Games such as corn hole and bocce will be on-hand, as well. Access to the playgrounds, basketball courts, sports fields, fishing pond, skate park and other facilities at the park will be open to the public, too.
