KEYPORT – Members of the Keyport Borough Council have given their consent to ABC Studios to film a new program, “Emergence,” in the borough.
“Emergence” is an American mystery-themed thriller drama television series created by Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas for ABC Studios. The show is scheduled to premiere at 10 p.m. on Sept. 24.
On Sept. 3, council members confirmed their approval for filming in the Main Street parking lot and at other locations in town. Borough Administrator Stephen Gallo granted ABC Studios permission to film in Keyport for a negotiated fee, according to a resolution.
That evening, filming took place in Keyoport’s primary parking lot and wrapped up at about 6:30 p.m. Filming was expected to continue at a diner in town, Mayor Collette Kennedy said.
Kennedy said Sept. 3 was the second full day “Emergence” was filming in Keyport.
During a reporter’s visit to a filming location in the borough, a representative of the show, who wished not to be named, said “Emergence” would be shot at locations throughout New Jersey. No additional details were available from that individual.
According to abc.go.com, ” ‘Emergence’ is about a police chief who takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.”
The cast of “Emergence” includes Allison Tolman, Alexa Swinton, Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison and Clancy Brown.
