Cheers and Jeers

by Damian Holbrook

Jeers to Krypton ‘s Destruction.

Easily the best space drama since Battlestar Galactica, Syfy’s Superman prequel, set on his doomed home planet, soared through two rollicking seasons on the capable shoulders of star
Cameron Cuffe (pictured), only to be vanquished by a super- villain more nefarious than Brainiac: low ratings. Hey, DC Universe—it might be time to save the day and pick this one up!

Jeers to Leaving Miriam Shor

out of the Emmy conversation. Long the unsung hero of TV Land’s Younger, Shor (pictured) again showed why she deserves a spot on the ballot when her prickly publishing icon Diana Trout realized the shattering truth about assistant Liza (Sutton Foster) and her age-denying betrayals. It was heartbreaking, hard to watch and so worthy.

Cheers to Will Ferrell’s Talk Takeover.

To promote the new season of The Ron Burgundy Podcast, Ferrell’s Anchorman alter ego (pictured) visited late-night hosts Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and James Corden—all in one night. Granted, some of the spots, which aired Aug. 8, were pretaped, but still a classy move.

Cheers to Suits
for finding a perfect fit for Patrick J. Adams’ return. Of course, we knew the original cast member (pictured) would be back as Mike Ross during the USA drama’s final season. What we didn’t know was how great he’d be as a sparring partner for Katherine Heigl’s Samantha Wheeler! Harvey Specter must be so proud. And a little jealous.
