Pratima Rao, a national award winning artist from Holmdel, will exhibit her artwork at the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council in Atlantic Highlands in October.
The exhibit will feature Rao’s expressive land and seascapes in oil, which were painted en plein air – outdoors – in Southern Italy and New Jersey.
Rao has been juried several times into well known national plein air events, and most recently into ‘Plein Air Easton,’ one of the most prestigious plein air events in the country, according to a press release.
Rao seeks to capture the effect of light on the landscape. As a result, her works are filled with light, vibrant, impressionistic expressions that are said to allow the viewer to feel like they can walk into her art and experience the moment, according to the press release.
The show will be held at the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council (AHAC), which is located at 54 First Ave. in Atlantic Highlands, from Oct. 3 to Oct. 27. Her works can be viewed during the week at the AHAC Gallery.
An opening reception will be held on Oct. 5 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The show and reception are free and open to the public.
Rao’s artwork is collected by patrons in the U.S. and abroad.
Rao enjoys teaching and currently conducts oil painting classes and workshops for studio and plein air oil painting at the Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury and at the Canvas Studios in Fair Haven, according to the press release.
