MILLSTONE – A new municipal clerk has been appointed in Millstone Township.
On Sept. 4, members of the Township Committee appointed Kathleen Hart to the position of municipal clerk. Hart was previously serving as deputy municipal clerk. She will succeed Maria Dellasala, who retired from the township on June 1.
Municipal officials said Hart has worked in Millstone for more than 13 years.
Hart will receive an annual salary of $58,915 as municipal clerk, according to the resolution. She was also appointed registrar of vital statistics, for which she will receive an annual salary of $2,804. Hart will also receive annual salaries of $6,052 for managing the web/peg/newsletter, $6,178 as health benefits coordinator and $5,061 as animal control coordinator. The total compensation is $79,010.
Recently, Hart submitted a letter of resignation from her position as deputy municipal clerk, which was received at the committee’s Aug. 21 meeting.
Two weeks later, at the Sept. 4 meeting, officials announced they had received a new letter from Hart in which she rescinded her resignation. The committee members then voted to appoint her as municipal clerk.
“At the last meeting (Aug. 21), we had the resignation of Kathleen Hart. After further discussions and some real changes that were required by this Township Committee, Kathy has reconsidered and is staying onboard,” Mayor Fiore Masci said on Sept. 4.
“First, I want to thank our business administrator, Roger Staib, for playing a very big role in opening the eyes of many folks on this dais. And Kathleen, I want to thank you for giving us another opportunity. Sometimes that doesn’t happen in life. We want to thank you for reconsidering and staying onboard,” Masci said.
In response to Masci’s comments, Hart said, “I appreciate it. My heart has always been with Millstone Township.”
