South River council introduces ordinance creating three stop intersections

SOUTH RIVER–The Borough Council introduced an ordinance amending the borough code to establish three new stop intersections on Bissett Place, Anne Street and Whitehead Avenue.

Borough Administrator Art Londensky said the three new proposed stop intersections came at the recommendation of the South River Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau.

The council introduced and approved the ordinance on Sept. 9.

Stops signs will be placed on Anne Street and Bissett Place at the corresponding intersection. Another stop sign will also be placed on Bissett Place at the Whitehead Avenue and Bissett Place intersection, according to the council agenda.

The second and final reading for this ordinance is scheduled for Sept. 23.

The three intersections are not located near any of the borough’s schools.
