Hillsborough Township municipal officials released a announcement that the Township Building Department will hold a Sept. 26 open house event for contractors.
Officials said that the topics to be discussed in this open forum will include an overview of code enforcement; changes in the code that impact the construction industry; and instruction on completing a permit application.
In this informational session, officials explained that contractors, architects and other professionals will be provided with step-by-step instructions and guidance in completing the required documentation for construction projects. Officials said the open house event is intended to assist permit applicants with the necessary resources to navigate the system in a more effective and efficient manner while decreasing the permit approval timeframe.
This contractor open house is another step in balancing the needs of contractors with respect to regulations of the building department, according to officials.
The Hillsborough Township Building Department is aimed to assist the public, contractors and design professionals by providing quality service that is knowledgeable, efficient, comprehensive and helpful, officials said.
The department is organized to effectively promote and provide professional plan review, permitting, and inspections of proposed or ongoing construction projects in the community, officials said. This department is entrusted with the responsibility to promote code awareness and expertise, assuring building safety and code compliance for the residents, according to officials.
In a Sept. 10 statement released by the municipality, Hillsborough Township Mayor Frank DelCore said that the event aims to establish a stronger relationship between the municipality and the department’s employees as well as inform attendees about code enforcement.
“We are always striving to enhance the relationship between our contractors and the township, and the next phase is this informational session held by our construction and sub code officials to assist applicants with an understanding of code enforcement,” DelCore said.
Contractors interested in participating have the choice of two sessions to choose from. The first session will be held from 3:30-5 p.m., while the second will be from 5-6:30 p.m.
