The Colts Neck High School football team is the surprise of the Shore in 2019.
After beating Matawan Regional High School, 33-23, on Sept. 20 at Matawan, the Cougars are a stunning 3-0. They also beat Freehold Township High School, 24-0, on Sept. 6 and Marlboro High School, 14-7, on Sept. 14.
All three of those victories came on the road, too. The Cougars should draw a packed house and raucous crowd for their home opener on Sept. 28 against Toms River High School East. Kickoff is set for noon.
In the Matawan victory, Romeo Thomas and Joe Barsky each scored two touchdowns for the Cougars. Tommy Fallon scored one as well.
Colts Neck has a lot of talent this fall. The rest of the Shore teams are quickly finding that out.
