Reports of an attempted child luring involving two 16-year-old girls on Witherspoon Street have been deemed to be unfounded, according to the Princeton Police Department.
The initial reports indicated that a man tried to entice the girls into his pickup truck on Sept. 24 and Sept. 27, police said. Both incidents occurred in the 300 block of Witherspoon Street.
After locating the pickup truck, interviewing the driver and reviewing the circumstances, police concluded there was no intent to lure or harm the children.
No criminal charges have been filed against the man, police said.
Princeton Police Chief Nicholas Sutter commended the girls for walking away from the situation and reporting it to their mother, who in turn notified the Princeton Police Department.
“The safety of our children and the community will remain our paramount concern, Chief Sutter said.
Although no threat was found to the community, police will provide extra patrols in the area.
