MILLSTONE – A contract in the amount of $810,313 has been awarded by the Township Committee for improvements to Millstone Township’s roads.
On Oct. 3, committee members awarded the contract to the Earle Asphalt Company for the 2019 road improvement program. The contract was awarded based on a recommendation by Township Engineer Matt Shafai.
Earle Asphalt Company was awarded the contract after submitting the lowest bid for the project, according to a resolution. Other bids were submitted by PM Construction ($1.1 million), Fernandes Construction Inc. ($854,444) and Meco Inc. ($854,168).
The contract with the Earle Asphalt Company is subject to the availability of funds and approval of the New Jersey Department of Transportation commissioner, according to the resolution.
In other business, committee members appointed Catherine Parrino as a part-time assistant violations clerk for the municipal court. The position pays $15 per hour.
And, committee members named Robert D’Amico, the previous building sub-code official/inspector, as Millstone Township’ temporary building sub-code official/inspector.
According to a resolution, D’Amico resigned as the building sub-code official/inspector on July 2, but offered to continue as a temporary employee in the position on an as-needed basis. The position pays $41 per hour and the position will end on Nov. 2.
