Hopewell Valley Central High School traveled to Princeton to face Princeton High School in this week’s Mercer County “Game of the Week”.
Hopewell Valley produced an impressive performance as the Bulldogs defeated Princeton, 50-6, in the Saturday matchup on Oct. 26.
Offensively, Hopewell Valley had success through the passing game and ground attack. Senior quarterback Brett Confer threw for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Junior running back Henry Lewis contributed 60 yards on five carries and a touchdown. Sophomore Eddie Keifer added 71 yards on 17 carries.
Hopewell Valley junior wide receiver Devin Higgins caught three receptions for 42 yards and two touchdowns.
Hopewell Valley’s improved to 5-2 on the season. The Bulldogs next game is a road contest against Hightstown High School on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
On the other side of the field, Princeton did score a touchdown off of a 15-yard run from senior quarterback Judd Petrone. Petrone finished the passing game 4-12 for 56 yards and added the rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Princeton junior wide receiver Dora Servil caught two receptions for 47 yards. Senior running back Stephen Avis produced 6 yards on 13 carries.
After the loss, the Little Tigers are 0-7 on the season. Princeton’s next game is on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. against Delran High School.
