Voters in Colts Neck, Englishtown, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Manalapan and Marlboro went to the polls on Nov. 5 and elected members of the school boards in their respective municipalities.
Voters also cast their ballots for a member of the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education and on three referendum questions that were placed on the ballot by the regional high school district.
The Monmouth County Clerk’s Office has posted results from the election on its website. All of the election results are unofficial and will remain unofficial until a vote counting process that could take more than a week has been completed.
The totals as of Nov. 6 do not include late mail-in ballots and provisional ballots, which are expected to be tallied later this week.
Colts Neck
Three incumbents were seeking three three-year terms on the Colts Neck K-8 School District Board of Education. Danielle Alpaugh (1,214 votes), Marian Castner (1,212 votes) and Jacquelyn Hoagland (1,291 votes) won the seats and will remain on the board that oversees the operation of the district’s three schools.
Freehold Borough
Four residents are seeking three three-year terms on the Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education. As of Nov. 6, the results show incumbent Paul Ceppi (836 votes), Brent Costleigh (819 votes) and incumbent Tyler Jordan (762 voters) leading. Caridad Argote-Freyre has 746 votes. Tomi Carter ran unopposed for a one-year term on the board and was elected. Carter has received 1,087 votes as of Nov. 6.
Freehold Township
Four residents are seeking three three-year terms on the Freehold Township K-8 School District Board of Education. As of Nov. 6, the results show incumbent Jennifer Patten (4,307 votes), Debra Costanza (4,005 votes) and incumbent Elena O’Sullivan (3,486 votes) leading. Daniel DiBlasio has 2,862 votes.
Freehold Regional High School District
Running unopposed for a seat on the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education as Englishtown’s representative, incumbent Diana Cappiello won the three-year term. Voters in Englishtown and Manalapan cast a combined total of 4,642 votes for Cappiello.
Freehold Regional High School District referendum
Voters in the eight municipalities that comprise the Freehold Regional High School District were asked by the Board of Education to approve a $41.7 million referendum.
The referendum included three questions and in order for Question No. 2 and/or Question No. 3 to pass, Question No. 1 had to pass. As of Nov. 6, all three questions appear to have been defeated.
Question No. 1 ($20 million) proposed security initiatives such as interior door locks, security vestibules and public address systems; roofing and paving work; and auditorium renovations at Freehold High School. As of Nov. 6, Question No. 1 has 16,557 “no” votes and 15,759 “yes” votes.
Question No. 2 ($12 million) proposed bleacher replacements and new STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) rooms at each high school. As of Nov. 6, Question No. 2 has 17,041 “no” votes and 15,074 “yes” votes.
Question No. 3 ($8.5 million) proposed the installation of synthetic turf athletic fields at Freehold Township High School, Manalapan High School and Marlboro High School, and a new media center at Colts Neck High School. As of Nov. 6, Question No. 3 has 17,235 “no” votes and 14,576 “yes” votes.
Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District
Four residents are running for three three-year terms on the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education. As of Nov. 6, the results show incumbent Christine Parisi (3,965 votes), David Kane (3,573 votes) and incumbent Gerald Bruno (2,950 votes) leading. Sunil Polepalli has 2,814 votes.
Marlboro
Four residents are running for three three-year terms on the Marlboro K-8 School District Board of Education. As of Nov. 6, the results show Jennifer Silacci (3,346 votes), incumbent Tricia Branch (3,317 votes) and incumbent Randy Heller (3,060 votes) leading. Incumbent Dara Enny has 2,425 votes.
Incumbent Robert Daniel ran unopposed and won a one-year unexpired term on the board. Daniel has 3,735 votes as of Nov. 6.
