WOODBRIDGE – Three incumbents held onto their three-year seats on the Woodbridge Board of Education.
Joseph Velez, who will serve his second term, received the most votes with 7,226/32% during the election on Nov. 5. Jonathan Triebwasser, who will serve his fourth term, recorded 6,932 votes/30% and Akshar Sidana, who will serve his second term, registered 6,303 votes/28%.
Challenger Nelson Louis Owen III received 2,433 votes/11%.
Sidana, 36, who has lived in the township for 19 years, said it is important as a board member to leave “no stone left unturned” to provide every opportunity possible for students in their academic careers.
Triebwasser, 60, who has lived in Woodbridge for 29 years, said his goal is to continue looking for areas that will provide the best educational opportunity/environment to the district’s staff and students.
Velez, 59, who is a 50-year resident of the township, said his main concern is the safety of the children and to “ensure a safe school system in order to produce a distraction-free learning environment.”
Election results from Nov. 5 are according to the Middlesex County Board of Elections and are unofficial until certified.
