Hillsborough Education Foundation to support fundraising initiatives

Hillsborough Education Foundation (HEF) officials released a recent statement that the group will provide $10,000 to support local public school education through several initiatives for the 2019-2020 school year.

The announcement came from the officials on Nov. 19 as part of multiple community programs initiated with an intent to raise funds for public school education.

These initiatives include a grant program; milestones awards; and senior scholarships.

For the grant program, HEF officials said they invite Hillsborough Township Public School teachers, administrators and staff to submit grant applications to fund high impact education programs. The online grant application will become available on Dec. 2, and applications will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 15, 2020, at www.hef.org.

For the milestones awards, HEF partners along with Hillsborough High School (HHS) aim to recognize outstanding HHS juniors in a variety of departments, including applied technology, English, Family & Consumer Sciences, guidance, health, Information & Communication Technology, math, music, sciences, social studies, special education, visual arts and world languages.

For senior scholarships, HEF officials said they will continue to provide scholarship funding for graduating HHS students on Senior Awards night.

To commemorate these initiatives, officials said Hillsborough High School Advanced Graphic Arts students are partnering with the foundation to design a new logo that captures the mission and spirit of HEF. Students will use both creativity and technical expertise during this experience, which is also designed to provide valuable “real world” graphic design and customer care practices, according to officials.

The HEF is also seeking community members who are committed to supporting public school education to join the HEF advisory committee. Applications are available online at www.hef.org.

HEF also asked for the community to support public education on Dec. 3 when donations can be made online at www.hef.org or by checks made out to “Hillsborough Education Foundation”and mailed to P.O. Box 5642, Hillsborough NJ 08844. HEF is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

About the Hillsborough Education Foundation

HEF’s mission is to strengthen the bridge between the community and Hillsborough Township Public Schools by encouraging community involvement and financial support to enhance public education for students at all levels. HEF was established in 1996 and has a long history of funding innovative programs and classroom initiatives, including the initial funding for the Hillsborough High School robotics team and fundraising for the Hillsborough High School turf field in 2000. One of HEF’s longest running programs has been granting scholarships to graduating Hillsborough High School seniors.

Education foundations promote excellence in education by funding activities that would not otherwise be funded through the traditional school district budget. HEF seeks to engage Hillsborough Township Public Schools alumni, parents, business leaders, community members and organizations to harness private resources to support public education. HEF further seeks to offer opportunities for community members to become involved with the advancement of public school education.
