Mater Dei Prep student-athlete Claire Gaston made her official commitment to play soccer at the collegiate level on Nov. 15, signing a letter of content to play for the Misericordia University women’s soccer team next fall.
Gaston will study biochemistry at Misericordia with the intent of becoming a veterinarian.
“I chose MU because I loved the atmosphere of the campus. They have really nice students and teachers and a great Biochemistry Program,” Gaston said about the Pennsylvania college. “As for soccer, I chose MU because they had an amazing program that made the Elite 8 in the NCAA tournament and has an amazing coaching staff.”
Gaston joined the Mater Dei football program this fall. She set a record by converting 16 out of 19 extra points and connected on a 35-yard field goal attempt this season.
The senior is also the liaison for the Women’s Leadership Initiative at Mater Dei and is a member of the Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society.
