TINTON FALLS – A project that will provide 70 units of housing with a preference for veterans has received final approval from the Tinton Falls Planning Board.
Final approval on an application that was filed by Soldier On Inc. was granted by the board during a meeting on Nov. 13, according to a board administrator.
According to a legal notice that was published prior to the meeting by attorney Cameron W. MacLeod, who represents Soldier On, the applicant was seeking amended preliminary approval and final site plan approval for the development of a 13-acre property on Essex Road.
Essex Road runs between Jumping Brook Road and Asbury Avenue.
In July 2018, Soldier On received preliminary major site plan approval for the development of the property with 70 supportive housing apartments in three buildings, according to the legal notice.
Under the amended plan, the applicant sought the board’s approval to construct one four-story building, approximately 45 feet in height, to include 70 units of affordable, supportive housing with a veterans preference.
The building is expected to include community space, an outdoor patio area, two flagpoles, a memorial columbarium, a greenhouse and storage shed, and a community garden.
The project will have sidewalks, an on-site infiltration basin, a two-lane divided driveway, parking areas, fencing, lighting and landscaping improvements. There will be two freestanding signs – one at the intersection of the community’s driveway and Essex Road, and one on a stone plaque adjacent to the building.
