JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in the wake of two incidents which occurred over the weekend of Nov. 23-24.
At 9:36 p.m. Nov. 23, police officers responded to the Lucky 7 Seven Deli, Whitesville Road, to investigate a report of an active alarm.
Once at the scene, the officers discovered an unsecured door and evidence of a burglary, according to police.
Security video from inside the store was reviewed and showed a man who had entered the store several times during the evening.
Before the store closed, the man was observed walking into a walk-in refrigerator and coming out of the refrigerator after the store closed. Money and cigarettes were reported to have been stolen from the business, according to police.
The suspect was identified as a black male wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt with “Me and Jesus” written on it. The incident took place from 8-9:30 p.m. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 732-928-1111.
On Nov. 24, police officers responded to Pineland Sporting Goods, West Veterans Highway, to investigate a report of an attempted burglary which occurred between 2-3:30 a.m.
It was reported that an unknown individual used a propane torch in an attempt to open the padlock on the front door of the business. The individual disabled the padlock, but no entry was made to the store, according to police.
