FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – A contract has been awarded by the Township Committee for upgrades to pump stations in Freehold Township.
During a recent meeting, committee members awarded a $216,961 contract to Rapid Pump & Meter Services Co., Inc., Paterson, for various pump station upgrades.
The firm, whose contract consisted of a base bid of $154,078 and a supplemental bid of $62,883, was the lowest bidder and received the contract on the recommendation of Mott MacDonald, the township’s professional engineer, according to a resolution.
Other bids were submitted by BR Welding Inc. ($304,500) and Municipal Maintenance Co. ($351,700).
In other business, committee members awarded a $69,854 contract to National Water Main Cleaning Company for sanitary sewer rehabilitation.
According to a resolution, the firm was the lowest bidder and was awarded the contract on the recommendation of Mott MacDonald. Other bids were submitted by SWERP Inc. ($84,800), Standard Pipe Services, LLC, ($108,400) and North American Pipeline Services, LLC, ($113,635).
And, the committee authorized the execution of a parking permit agreement with DCH Auto Group, BMW of Freehold, for commuter parking passes at the Schibanoff Lane commuter parking lot off Route 9 south.
Finally, committee members introduced an ordinance that will, if adopted, increase fees for a commuter parking permit in Freehold Township’s municipal lots.
The fee for the first vehicle in any household will increase from $150 to $175 per year; the fee for any vehicle other than the first registered in any household will increase from $150 to $175 per year; and the fee for any vehicle owned by a non-resident will increase from $250 to $275 per year, according to the ordinance.
A public hearing and vote on the ordinance was scheduled for Dec. 17.
