Menorah lighting in Metuchen brings people of all faiths together

METUCHEN – People of all faiths gathered at the plaza to light the menorah on the first day of the Hanukkah Festival of Lights.

The menorah lighting included songs and people enjoyed donuts, hot chocolate, dreidels and chocolate coins. The celebration was sponsored by Neve Shalom in Metuchen, Temple Emanu-El in Edison and the Metuchen Edison Area Interfaith Clergy Association.

In commemoration, Jews celebrate Hanukkah for eight days by lighting an eight-branched candelabrum known as a menorah. The celebration began on Dec. 22 and concludes on the evening of Dec. 30.
