ABERDEEN–The Township Council has announced that Bryan Russell has been selected as the municipality’s new township manager.
Russell will be responsible for overseeing all operational and budgetary functions for the Monmouth County municipality, working in tandem with the council, administrative staff and professionals, according to a prepared statement from Aberdeen Township.
He will be officially be appointed at the township’s annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 4. Russell comes to his new position with more than 16 years of experience in municipal and state government, most recently as a borough administrator for the Borough of Neptune City, according to a prepared statement.
“[Russell] demonstrated in his interviews that he possesses the qualities and background to manage the township and, more importantly, work in an orchestrated fashion with the mayor and council to deliver the best services to our residents and be responsive to their needs,” Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini said in a prepared statement.
Prior to joining Neptune in February 2019, the Oceanport resident spent more than seven years in administration at the Borough of Roselle in Union County, including the last two years in the top position of Borough Administrator.
Commenting on the manager transition, Councilman Gregory Cannon said in a prepared statement, “As [Russell] steps into the manager’s role, our council wants to extend our sincere appreciation to Dan Mason, who served as acting manager, and his firm, Jersey Professional Management, for their dedicated service to Aberdeen over the past six months.”
Councilwoman Connie Kelley said in a prepared statement, “Dan and his team worked diligently with our council and staff to keep Aberdeen on track during that period, while also coordinating our search for the new manager.”
