NORTH BRUNSWICK – Two police officers officially joined the North Brunswick Police Department on Jan. 13, set to replace four members of the department who will be retiring as of Feb. 1.
Max. A Pavlis and Jacob C. Geyer were administered the oath of office during the North Brunswick Township Council meeting.
Pavlis grew up in New Brunswick and Milltown, attending Our Lady of Lourdes School and Spotswood High School before moving to North Brunswick, according to information provided by Police Director Ken McCormick during the meeting.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in political science from Rutgers University.
He was a member of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office and was a Class I special law enforcement officer for the East Brunswick Police Department prior to his employment in North Brunswick.
His father Pete is a retired detective with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Geyer was born in Port Jefferson, New York, but attended and graduated from North Brunswick Township High School.
He was a volunteer with the North Brunswick First Aid & Rescue Squad.
He worked for the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.
He attended Rutgers to pursue a degree in criminal justice.
McCormick said a third officer will be hired upon completion of the police academy.
Nate Nicholson, Ken Riley, Kevin Dickinson and William Bonura will retire next month.
