Janice D Vansant: November 1, 1928 – January 10, 2020. Janice was the only daughter of Russell W DeLong and Frances Brady DeLong and was born and raised in Bristol, Pennsylvania. From 1950 to 2015 she lived in Hopewell Township, NJ, in a small community of homes called Mount Rose.
Janice graduated from Friends Select School in Philadelphia and attended Drexel University School of Home Economics. She was a Welcome Hostess for “Hello Hopewell” for twelve years, a volunteer instructor at the Mercer County Extension Service, and a home health aide for the Visiting Nurse Association of Princeton.
Janice was married to Leslie “Yarnall” Weston for seven years and then married to Bruce E Vansant for 37 years from 1956 to 1993. After Bruce’s passing she then lived with her companion/partner Dale Winters of Pennington, NJ, until his passing in 2017. She is survived by her two sons David W Weston of Pittstown, NJ, and J Barry Weston of Hillsborough, NC; and her three daughters – Sally V Colkett of Cumming, GA, Carol V Krych of Lakewood, NJ, and Kathy V Sanders of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Beverly Rosen of Conyers, GA. She is survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Janice had a lifelong love of the natural world and of art, music and reading. Janice and her husband Bruce E Vansant were active members of the Association for Equal Opportunity of Hopewell Valley, the Trenton Naturalist Club, the Somerset Naturalist Club, and the New Jersey Mycological Association. They were board members for the Washington Crossing chapter of the Audubon Society for six years.
