A 14-year-old boy died on Feb. 4 when he lost control of his dirt bike on the towpath in the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park and fell into the canal in Lawrence Township, according to a spokesman for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
The boy suffered a head injury, the spokesman said. He was pulled out of the canal, and a passerby stopped to apply CPR. The New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey State Park Police responded to the scene to assist.
The boy, who had been riding his dirt bike on the towpath along with several other juveniles, was flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he later died, the spokesman said.
