MILLSTONE – After being named Millstone Township’s acting business administrator, Kevin Abernethy will also serve as the municipality’s temporary chief financial officer.
On Feb. 5, Township Committee members appointed Abernethy to the position of temporary CFO. He succeeds Annette Murphy, who resigned in January.
According to the municipal website, the Finance Department is responsible for planning, directing and administering all work pertaining to the management of the financial resources of the municipality. The department assumes involvement with budget preparation and financial reporting.
Abernathy was appointed as acting business administrator in January, succeeding Roger Staib in that position.
“Kevin brings a vast background and knowledge in banking,” Mayor Fiore Masci said. “I can tell you based on our executive session earlier today, you (Abernethy) are going to do quite well. I’m really happy to have you on as a team member.
In other business, Masci appointed Sean Kilcomons as a regular member of the Parks and Recreation Commission to complete the unexpired term of Jennifer Casale. The term will end on Dec. 31, 2022.
Jared Rosenfeld was also appointed as a regular member of the Parks and Recreation Commission to complete the unexpired term of Jack Aprile. The term will end on Dec. 31, 2021.
Kilcomons and Rosenfeld were previously alternate members of the commission.
Brian Lourenco was appointed by Masci to complete Kilcomons’ unexpired term as an alternate member of the commission. The term will end on Dec. 31, 2021.
Joseph Strickland was appointed to complete Rosenfeld’s unexpired term as an alternate member of the commission. The term will end on Dec. 31, 2022.
