SOUTH RIVER – Residents who are vacationing or traveling can have a police officer check on their residence while they are away through the South River Police Department’s Unoccupied Residence Program.
As part of this free program, South River residents can submit a form to let officers know when a residence will be unoccupied. A police officer will then check the home as time permits during his or her normal patrol duties.
This form also allows residents to make officers aware of any vehicles that will be at the residence, provide contact information and let them know if any friends or relatives will be checking on the residence during the specified timeframe.
The Unoccupied Residence Form can be downloaded at www.SouthRiverPD.org or picked up at police headquarters, 61 Main St., South River. Once completed, the form can be faxed to 732-613-6103 or dropped off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at headquarters.
If returning earlier or later than indicated on the form, call 732-238-1000.
This is separate from South River’s long-term vacant property ordinance.
