The Art of Sound presents the Hazelrigg Brother acoustic trio and vocalist Joanna Pascale, as additions to the ‘Unplugged’ series spring lineup.
George and Geoff Hazelrigg’s acoustic trio is set to perform songs from their latest album on April 16 at the Art of Sound studio located on 201 South Main St. in Lambertville. Their performance will begin at 7 p.m.
Joanna Pascale will follow suit at the Art of Sound studio with her American Songbook Jazz trio on May 14, which also begins at 7 p.m.
“What is great about the Hazelrigg brothers, they represent honesty and love and celebration of music. That is exactly why we started the Unplugged series,” said Mandee Hammerstein, co-producer of Unplugged.
Unplugged is a celebration of artists, where the audience can have an intimate exchange with the artists, according to Hammerstein. The series is co-produced with Patricia Giro, who is also the co-owner of the Art of Sound.
“The performances are really about the exchange and to connect us all. That is what the Hazelrigg brothers represent. All of their communication and philosophy about music they have been studying for a life time together as brothers,” Hammerstein said. “They have been practicing for well over 20 years. They really breathe and embody music.”
She added that officials are thrilled to have them perform.
“They are local. We like to expose the community to musicians that they do not have regular access too. We really enjoy highlighting performers,” Hammerstein said. “This is their first time performing for the Unplugged Series. We are going experiencing them up close and personal for the first time with the fans of unplugged.”
The series limits each performance to 50 people in attendance. The seating is designed that way per show to ensure a private concert experience, according to event officials.
“Everybody gets to talk to the artists and it is like having a private concert in your own home. This is something different. The artists have enjoyed that intimate feeling along with the audience,” Hammerstein said.
Joanna Pascale is a returning artist to the Unplugged series. She is a Philadelphia vocalist, who delivers expressive yet modern interpretations of timeless classics, according to Hammerstein.
“This is her third or fourth time performing for the series. The people have responded so well to her and vice versa,” Hammerstein said. “She is a professor in music and has this natural appreciation for music. She provides an almost education to each song as she performs. She does it in her own style. Joanna (Pascale) is quite popular and has generated her own kind of fan base here at the Art of Sound.”
Tickets for the performances can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com.
Hammerstein added that the Unplugged series is in its second year.
The concluding performance of the spring series is set to take place in June.
“We cannot wait to announce our last show of the Spring. Our goal is to seriously heat-up the dance floor as we did last June with Tito Puente Jr. and his incredible, Afro-Cuban band, people are still talking about his sold-out performance,” Giro said.
After the June performance, Unplugged will resume in the fall and announce talent at a later date, according to officials.
