Students fire bottle rockets, launch gliders during New Jersey Science Olympiad

EDISON – Students from 27 middle schools and 27 high schools all over New Jersey participated in the 28th annual state final of the New Jersey Science Olympiad, which was held at Middlesex County College in Edison on March 10.

The competition is designed to encourage students’ interest in science and technology. The students took tests, fired bottle rockets, launched gliders and raced self-propelled cars, among many other activities, according to information provided by the college.

Students from South Brunswick High School, Noor-ul-Iman in Monmouth Junction, West Windsor Plainsboro (North and South), East Brunswick High School, John P. Stevens in Edison, Edison High School, Thomas Grover Middle School in West Windsor, Hammarskjold Middle School in East Brunswick, Churchill Junior High School in East Brunswick, Cranbury Middle School, Crossroads Middle School in Monmouth Junction, and Community Middle School in West Windsor and Plainsboro participated in the event.

The National Science Olympiad Championship, which was scheduled to be held at North Carolina State University May 15-16, has been canceled.
