Frappe Joe Coffee supplies JFK Emergency Room staff with free food, coffee

EDISON – Frappe Joe Coffee is responding to the coronavirus pandemic by helping defer food and delivery costs in delivering meals, snacks and coffee at no charge to healthcare workers on the frontlines at the nearby JFK Medical Center Emergency Room (ER) in Edison.

Shetal Shah, owner and operator of Frappe Joe Coffee, has been sending free coffee and other goods since opening in October 2019, according to information provided by Weiss Realty.

Shah was able to allocate hours to keep his full staff on and service the ER with free meals, drinks and snacks during the pandemic. The cost is being underwritten by donations by the community.

“The outpouring of human kindness from the community allows us to keep servicing the gods and goddesses working on the front lines,” Shah said in the statement. “Going outside for food isn’t an option for the ER medical staff right now and we recognize the important work that these healthcare workers are doing.”

Managing member Jamie Weiss has decided to support the cause of his tenant in the Colonial Village shopping center even further. As landlord, Weiss is matching donations up to $500 per week for the next six weeks to be shared amongst his takeout restaurant tenants to co-sponsor deliveries, he said in the statement.

“We are profoundly appreciative. Words cannot describe their unselfish act to help others,” said Weiss, president of Weiss Realty, the center’s leasing and managing agent.
