NORTH BRUNSWICK – North Brunswick’s neighbor-to-neighbor telephone program was established keep residents in helpful contact with one another during the coronavirus crisis.
“During this time we all will experience anxiety and some will have special needs. We hope that a friendly call from one resident to another will help relieve tension and brighten someone’s day. It will also give you a chance to politely inquire about special needs residents may have. You will then be able to let the township know if there are ways we can help. As this crisis continues, your outreach will be an increasingly important part of the fabric of our community,” Mayor Francis “Mac” Womack said in a letter to participants.
Volunteers will be offered a mock script to help them direct the conversation. Topics include wellness, immediate concerns, the willingness to volunteer, recommendations for the township to better provide services related to coronavirus, and accessibility to information.
A list of residents to call will be provided.
Team leaders will hold regular feedback sessions via conference call.
To volunteer, call the office of the mayor at 732-247-0922, ext. 200.
