SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Several local pizzerias have been targeted for fraudulent activity over the past week.
The same caller appears to contact each store and order pizza for the police department, according to information provided by South Brunswick officials. In each case, the caller indicates that he will come to pick up the pizza to deliver it. Three pizzerias have lost hundreds of dollars when they learn the order was fraudulently placed, according to the statement.
The police department is urging local food establishments to use a confirmation process and require a credit card for any large orders. Several residents have placed legitimate orders for food to be delivered to the police department, which is appreciated.
There are currently several leads in the cases, police said, and a suspect should be charged.
