FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – A $3.99 million contract has been awarded by the Township Committee for paving work in Freehold Township this year.
During a recent meeting, committee members awarded the multi-million contract to Black Rock Enterprises, Old Bridge, for Freehold Township’s 2020 pavement overlay program and 2020 municipal aid program, with the municipal aid focused on the first phase of work at Stonehurst Boulevard.
Other bids were submitted by Meco Inc. ($4.03 million), S. Brothers Inc. ($4.17 million), Esposito Construction ($4.22 million), P&A Construction Inc. ($4.37 million), Green Construction Inc. ($4.66 million) and Earle Asphalt Company ($4.8 million).
In other business, the committee authorized a $300 decrease in a contract that had been awarded to A.C. Schultes for a work on a water test well at the Point Ivy Water Treatment Plant and the final payment for the project.
The contract that was awarded to A.C. Shultes in 2019 totaled $49,190. The change order reduced the contract to $48,890, according to a resolution. The credit resulted from a change in a piece of equipment the firm used during the project.
And, committee members authorized the submission of an application for a U Drive. U Text. U Pay. 2020 Distracted Driving Crackdown Grant from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Highway Safety. Freehold Township is seeking a $5,500 grant to carry out the enforcement of a law that prohibits individuals from texting while driving.
