MILLSTONE – The Township Committee has authorized an increase in a contract with a company that is providing turf fertilization and chemical treatments on municipal properties.
On April 15, committee members passed a resolution authorizing a $4,700 increase in a contract with On-Site Landscape Management Inc. The change order, which is the first approved by the governing body, will increase the township’s contract with the company from $27,898 to $32,598.
According to the resolution, the contract was initially for turf fertilization and a chemical program schedule for the Wagner Farm, Rocky Brook and Abate parks; the Veterans Memorial; the municipal building; the municipal court building; the community center; and the Clarksburg Cultural Center.
The $4,700 change order will pay for new work (turf fertilization and a chemical program) at Millstone Park, a 186-acre recreation facility that is being developed on Red Valley Road.
Millstone Park will have nine general purpose fields (six fields with lights) which can be used by sports programs. The park’s building will have restrooms and a kitchen serving facility, but no stove. Cooking will be provided by a portable food cart as needed.
Other features at Millstone Park are expected to include a trail that can be used for walking, jogging and horseback riding, a playground, and a boat-accessible pond that can be used for fishing and irrigation, according to township officials.
In other business, committee members approved a $1,200 contract with Tree Wise Men for emergency tree removal on Millstone Road between Timberline Court and Liberty Lane on April 14, according to a resolution.
