Edison total positive COVID-19 cases rise to 1,381, EPD recognizes public, businesses for PPE donations

EDISON – Edison officials reported 52 new positive cases of COVID-19 on May 1, bringing the total number of cases to 1,381, according to the Edison Office of Emergency Management.

The age range of the cases are three months old to 97, officials said. The township has lost 61 residents to COVID-19, according to Middlesex County.

The Edison Police Department has received many personal protective equipment from the public and businesses. On April 30, Ocean Power Technologies in Monroe donated 50 face shields, on April 23, Vigo Corporation in Edison donated 2,000 surgical masks, and Oscar Valera, of Metuchen, donated 110 face shields. The department recognized Valera and the businesses through social media posits.

Edison Township was not provided any other information regarding the new cases.
