MIDDLETOWN – The Middletown Arts Center will live-stream “The MAC One Acts,” a one-act play festival via Zoom on May 16-17 at 7 p.m. Five finalists (four adults and one teen), chosen through a competitive open submission process, will read their pieces with actors in front of the live, online audience.

According to a press release, the one-act play schedule is as follows:
• May 16, “Exclusion” by John Reshetar; “The Dancer, The Athlete, The Actress” by Emily Rae O’Donnell-Johns; and “Ophelia’s Goodbye” by Sheila Duane;
• May 17, “Vote for Jones” by Molly Wagner; amd “Winter Harbor” by Scott Sickles.
Sheila Duane (“Ophelia’s Goodbye”) is a playwright and instructor at Brookdale Community College. She is currently in the Dramatists Guild Institute Certification program.
Emily Rae O’Donnell-Johns (“The Dancer, The Athlete, The Actress”) is 13 years old and is a seventh-grader at Saint Leo the Great School. She has always enjoyed writing and performing and plans to pursue these interests in the future.
John Kelley Reshetar (“Exclusion”) has written numerous small works that have received stage readings and live productions at the 24 Hour Plays, Creative Works in Lancaster, Pa., and Central High School in Park Hills, Mo. “Exclusion represents his first one-act play.”
Scott C. Sickles (“Winter Harbor”) is an LGBTQ/biracial Asian American writer whose plays have been performed in New York City, across the United States, and internationally in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Singapore, Indonesia and Lebanon.
Molly Wagner (“Vote For Jones”) is a playwright from St. Charles, Ill., currently residing in Brooklyn, N.Y. Her work has been developed in Chicago, New York, Florida and now virtually.
The Middletown Arts Center is run by the nonprofit Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Council which is dedicated to bringing quality arts programming and events to Middletown and surrounding communities, according to the press release. The MAC offers enrichment programs and entertainment for all ages and abilities.
