Hopewell Valley Central High School senior Ethan Block was awarded the Louis Bay II Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship on May 24.
This scholarship competition has been named in honor of Bay, mayor emeritus of Hawthorne. The competition is designed to advance the virtues of elected and volunteer positions in municipal government while raising awareness of municipal government in general.
Block was one of three winners selected in 2020 for the scholarship that is sponsored by the New Jersey League of Municipalities. He receives $1,000 for the win that goes toward higher education.
Block is from Pennington and will attend Rutgers University in the fall.
According to Pennington officials, Mayor Joe Lawver presented Block with his award on May 24.
