METUCHEN – Metuchen has reported two new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 129 cases as of June 2, according to information provided by Middlesex County.
The borough has lost three residents to COVID-19, according to Middlesex County.
Mayor Jonathan Busch, in a post on social media on June 1, said he has had a number of encouraging conversations with the leadership from borough youth recreation sports organizations in anticipation of the resumption of some sports activities on June 22.
The borough’s Recreation Department is expected to release information on the availability of summer sports camps in the next couple of days. Once permitted to return, all Metuchen-based youth sports non-profit organizations and borough summer sports camps will be given field priority, Busch said.
The Borough Pool Commission has canceled the 2020 summer pool season, which includes the Metuchen Municipal Pool (MMP) Swim and Dive team.
Bulk and metal pickup resumed on June 1. To accommodate as many residents as possible, the township’s Department of Public Works will limit pickups to no more than three items per home. To schedule a pickup call 732-632-8519.
