MILLSTONE – Municipal officials in Millstone Township are appropriating $2 million to improve local roads in 2020.
On June 3, Township Committee members adopted a bond ordinance that will provide a $2 million appropriation for the 2020 road improvement program and authorize the issuance of $1.73 million in bonds or notes to help finance part of the costs of the improvements. A down payment of $271,000 from the township will cover the remaining costs.
According to the bond ordinance, this year’s program will include improvements to Nurko Road, the Hickory Drive subdivision, Gravatt Circle, Fillmore Road, Ivins Lane, parts of Pine Hill Road, Chadwick Road, Graham Place, parts of Millstone Road, Algonquin Terrace, Moccasin Court, Michael Court, Forman Road, Bruere Drive, parts of Olde Noah Hunt Road and miscellaneous minor road and drainage repairs throughout the township.
In other business, committee members adopted a bond ordinance that will provide a $206,000 appropriation for the acquisition of public works vehicles and equipment and authorize the issuance of $195,700 in bonds or notes to finance a portion of the costs. The remaining costs will be covered by a down payment of $10,300.
The public works vehicles and equipment to be acquired include a pick-up truck, a dump utility trailer, a mini-excavator, a zero turn mower and a tractor/roadside mower, according to the bond ordinance.
Committee members also adopted a bond ordinance that will provide a $550,000 appropriation for the construction of a park maintenance storage building and improvements to various municipal buildings, including security and safety upgrades. The costs will be covered by the issuance of $522,500 in bonds or notes and a down payment of $27,500.
Finally, the committee adopted a bond ordinance that will provide a $200,000 appropriation for the acquisition of a Class III ambulance, and equipment and accessories. Officials authorized the issuance of $190,000 in bonds or notes and a down payment of $10,000.
