SPOTSWOOD – Upcoming capital improvement projects in Spotswood include the purchase of a heated asphalt transporter hot box, the purchase of a masonry dump truck, funding for the 2020 Roadway Improvements Project and the purchase of an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) remounted ambulance with radio and medical equipment.
To fund the $1,137,000 in total costs for the various improvements, the Borough Council introduced a bond ordinance during the June 8 council meeting via video conference. The second and final reading is scheduled for June 22.
The improvements will be funded with a $26,250 grant received from the New Jersey Recycling Tonnage Grant program, a $555,000 grant expected to be received from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and $527,000 in negotiable bonds, according to the council.
The borough will pay the remaining amount of $28,750 as the down payment for capital improvements, according to the council.
The bond ordinance will take effect 20 days after the final adoption, as provided by the Local Bond Law, according to the council.
