SAYREVILLE – The Sayreville School District Board of Education has approved the $79,909 purchase of 319 laptop computers and associated service and license software for each.
At a recent meeting, board members approved purchasing the technology equipment from CDW Government Inc. According to district administrators, the purchase comprises $69,861 for the 319 HP Chromebook computers ($219 each), $8,134 for the 319 Chromebook licenses ($25 each), and $1,914 for the 319 Chromebook services ($6 each) for the $79,909.
In other business, board members approved the $125,286 purchase of Security EA (Enterprise Agreement) Licensing technology software from CDW Government Inc. for the 2020-21 school year.
The board also passed a resolution to approve the submission of a project to upgrade the gym’s HVAC system at the Sayreville War Memorial High School to the New Jersey Department of Education (DOE). The resolution also authorizes Spiezle Architect Group Inc to make the submission on the behalf of the district.
“We [the administrators] are real excited about [the project],” Superintendent of Schools Richard Labbe said. “We know that due to the pandemic and the following fiscal crisis that we all know that we’re going to enter, we had to stall plans for our referendum. But we also have suffered through many many graduation and promotion ceremonies in that gymnasium in June due to inclement weather, where it’s almost unbearable.
“At the very least, we’ll have HVAC next spring in the gymnasium in case we have to hold promotion or graduation ceremonies there,” he continued. “We’re real happy to announce that to you [the board].”
Board members Phyllis Batko, Lucy Bloom, Christopher Callahan, Carrie Kenny, Danielle Pieloch, and Karen Rubio, board Vice President John Walsh, and board President Anthony Esposito voted “yes” on submitting the project to the DOE. Board member Daniel Balka voted “no”.
