MILLSTONE – The Township Committee in Millstone Township has awarded a contract for the municipality’s 2020 road improvement program.
During a meeting on Sept. 16, committee members awarded the $1.41 million contract to Meco Inc. The contract was awarded on the recommendation of Township Engineer Matt Shafai, subject to the availability of funds and approval of the New Jersey Department of Transportation commissioner, according to a resolution.
According to the resolution, Meco Inc. received the contract for the job as the lowest bidder. Other bids were received from Earle Asphalt Company ($1.56 million) and P&A Construction ($1.6 million).
In other business, the committee authorized the renewal of an alcohol beverage license for the Millstone Township Elks No. 2613. The license will be effective from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021. The Elks Club paid a municipal filing fee of $125 for the club liquor license.
And, committee members authorized the renewal of an alcohol beverage license for Domal Restaurant Corp. (Tommy’s Inn). The licensee paid a municipal filing fee of $2,500 for the retail consumption license, which will be effective from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
Because of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, the local liquor licenses that had been issued for 2019-20 were extended from the original end date of June 30 to Sept. 30.
