TINTON FALLS – Members of the Tinton Falls Borough Council have approved $317,261 worth of improvements to municipal parks.
Members of the governing body took action on items related to park improvements during their Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 meetings.
On Oct. 6, council members authorized the $95,415 purchase of park and playground equipment for Traditions Park, a planned recreational facility between Wardell and Shafto roads, near the Foxchase residential development. The equipment was purchased from MRC (Marturano Recreation Co.), Sea Girt.
According to a resolution, the equipment will include an aluminum climber, a climbing/slide playset and swings. All of the equipment was manufactured by GameTime.
Council members also authorized the purchase of $93,023 worth of park equipment from MRC for Hockhockson Park, Hockhockson Road.

On Oct. 20, council members passed two resolutions authorizing the purchase of a rubber safety surface for Traditions Park and for Hockhockson Park. Both purchases were made from Rubbercycle, Lakewood, which is the manufacturer of the surfaces.
The rubber safety surface at Hockhockson Park will cost $66,453 for 4,475 square feet of material, according to a resolution.

In other business on Oct. 20, council members authorized a $119,905 increase in a contract with Fernandes Construction for the municipality’s 2020 road improvement program. The increase will bring the original $2.17 million contract to $2.29 million, according to a resolution.
Borough officials said the increase was the result of additional quantities of supplies for extra work at Avalon Drive, Heather Drive, Braeburn Drive and Pear Street.
