Saint Peter’s University Hospital offers series of virtual lectures based on adolescent and family issues

Saint Peter’s University Hospital, a member of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, is hosting a free virtual lecture series on adolescent and family health issues.

The first event in the series, “Adolescents and Ways to Safely Socialize,” will be presented virtually from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 via Zoom. Dr. Susan Brill-Goldberg, chief of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, will share safe ways for adolescents to safely socialize amid a pandemic.

In addition, Dr. Brill-Goldberg will review the importance of socialization for adolescents, the status of COVID-19 in New Jersey and the impact it has had on children and teenagers.

She will also discuss participation in school clubs and sports.

The presentation will address common parental concerns about the numerous ways the pandemic has impacted teens, from issues like isolation to how they cope, socialize and develop. The series will also explore addiction which has escalated during the pandemic and resources for successful recovery.

Subsequent lectures will be presented every other Wednesday through April. Each lecture will start at 6:30 p.m.
