Borough Council members in Freehold Borough have confirmed the appointment of Matthew Goode to serve as borough attorney for the remainder of 2021.
On March 1, council members authorized a professional services agreement with Goode, who is a partner at Arbus, Maybruch and Goode.
Goode will provide general legal services at the flat rate of $6,750 per month, not to exceed $67,500. He will also provide litigation services at an hourly rate of $150 for an amount not to exceed $10,000. The total amount to be paid to Goode is not to exceed $77,500, according to a resolution.
Goode succeeds Kerry Higgins as Freehold Borough’s municipal attorney. Higgins has been appointed as a state Superior Court judge. Goode resides in Keyport and is a member of the Keyport Borough Council.
Three additional legal services contracts were authorized by the governing body on March 1.
A professional services agreement for special redevelopment counsel was authorized with Joseph Baumann, of the firm McManimon, Scotland and Baumann. Baumann will provide the services in an amount not to exceed $15,000.
A professional services agreement for special labor counsel was authorized with Leslie London, of the firm McManimon, Scotland and Baumann. London will provide the services in an amount not to exceed $7,500.
A professional services agreement for special tax counsel was authorized with Michael Burns, of the firm Marmero Law, Woodbury. Burns will provide the services in an amount not to exceed $10,000.
