Lawrence Township voters will go to the polls in-person June 8 to choose candidates for an array of elected offices in the Democratic and Republican party primaries.
The polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for in-person voting. A vote-by-mail secure drop box, for voters who prefer not to vote in person, is available at the north entrance to the Lawrence Township Municipal Building at 2207 Lawrenceville Road (Route 206).
Incumbent Lawrence Township Councilmen James Kownacki and Christopher Bobbitt are running unopposed in the Democratic Party primary. No one filed to run in the Republican Party primary for Township Council.
Voters also will be asked to nominate a Democratic Party nominee and a Republican Party nominee for governor.
Incumbent Gov. Phil Murphy is running unopposed in the Democratic Party primary, but four Republicans – Jack Ciattarelli, Hirsh V. Singh, Philip Rizzo and Brian D. Levine – are vying for their party’s nomination to run against him.
Incumbent state Senator Shirley K. Turner is running unopposed for the Democratic Party nomination for state Senate, and Susan Gaul is unopposed in seeking the Republican Party nomination.
For the General Assembly, incumbent Assembly members Verlina Reynolds-Jackson and Anthony R. Verrelli are running unopposed for the Democratic Party nomination. On the Republican side, Patricia A. Johnson is the only nominee for General Assembly.
Incumbent Mercer County Surrogate Diane Gerofsky is running unopposed for the Democratic Party nomination, but two Republicans are vying for their party’s nomination to run for Surrogate – Douglas E. Miles and Richard J. LaRossa.
For the Board of County Commissioners, incumbent Commissioner Samuel Frisby and his running mates, Kristin McLaughlin and Terrance Stokes, are running unopposed for the Democratic Party nomination.
There are some decisions to be made among the six candidates seeking the Republican Party nomination to run for three seats on the Board of County Commissioners. Voters will choose from among Richard M. Balgowan, Michael Chianese, Andrew J. Kotula Jr., Joseph A. Stillwell, Vlad Machevus and Michael F. Hurtado.
