WALL TOWNSHIP – Many of the top drivers in asphalt Modified stock car racing are expected to compete in one of the most prestigious events in Modified stock car racing as Wall Stadium Speedway presents the 60th running of the Garden State Classic on June 5.
Plans call for spectator seating to open at 4 p.m., with qualifying slated for 5 p.m. and main event action to follow around 7 p.m., according to a press release.
During the 6 p.m. intermission, fans will enjoy a performance by Xtreme Queen, a popular Queen tribute band.
This year’s 125-lap format, offering $5,000 to the winner, is attracting the attention of several racers in the Modified division, according to the press release.
Expected to see action are defending race champion Blake Barney of Jackson and defending series champion and three-time 2021 winner Andrew Krause of Holmdel.
Jackson’s Steven Reed, Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor, Chris Andretta of Neptune, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, Farmingdale’s Tommy Martino Jr. and Dom Fattaruso and Eddie McCarthy, both of Brick Township, are also expected to be among those to see action.
Along with the championship 125-lap Modified race, the Factory Stocks, the Fast 4s and the touring Three Quarter Midgets will compete in 25-lap feature races.
