Metuchen Dem/GOP council candidates secure Nov. 2 runs

METUCHEN – Results in the uncontested June 8 Primary Elections ensure four candidates will be on their respective party’s ballot in November for the Metuchen Borough Council, according to results posted online by the Middlesex County Board of Elections.

Incumbent Democratic Councilman Jason Delia, running for a second term, drew 1,036 votes, while first-time candidate Joel Branch, a member of the borough Planning Board, tallied 1,029 votes, on the county Democratic Organization ballot.

There were three write-in votes cast.

In the Republican Primary election, Stephen Kitsko drew 330 votes, and Eric Lignell drew 316 votes, on the Republican Party ballot.

There was one write-in vote tallied.

The Metuchen Borough Council is currently comprised entirely of Democrats, with members serving for three-year terms.

The vote results are unofficial until certified by the county.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
